Wassily bold , kwow too as chair Model B3, designed by Marcel Breuer At the time he was director of the wood workshop at the Bauhaus in Dessau 1925

This chair was revolutionary in the use of materials ( bent nickel-plated steel tubes) and in the production methods. After experimenting with the solidity of the steel tube, used for the construction of the Adler bicycle, Breuer thought of using the steel tubes to build furniture. For the realization of the Breuer chair he had turned to Adler, but the company did not accept, so he turned to the Mannesmann company which, as early as 188586, had been working steel tubes with innovative techniques. Then he had the individual elements he needed folded and built the first prototype In the same year Le Corbusier had presented a steel tube staircase “built like the frame of a bicycle” sup at the Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris. The position of the seat and back of the B 3 attest to the influence of Gerrit Rietveld‘s red and blue chair (Rood-blauwe stoel).
