ClassiCon: In the Name of History
Is the world of furniture not a narrative where the stories of people merge with the personal history of the company that creates them? ClassiCon is a German company based in Munich, in the dynamic South of Germany, that simply defies time through classic and durable objects that combine classicism and modernity in a unique, recognizable, and personal style.
ClassiCon’s two souls are not in opposition—instead, they harmonize perfectly within the global design scene, which balances a national and international identity through excellent collaborations. The brand gently brushes the course of History itself.
A Classic and Contemporary Design
ClassiCon—its name and style say it all—began its journey in 1990 in Munich, continuing the legacy of Vereinigte Werkstätten, an important Bavarian company known for producing interiors crafted by artists in small series or as one-of-a-kind pieces.
From the start, ClassiCon has showcased works by major figures of classical modernism, such as Eileen Gray, Eckart Muthesius, and Otto Blümel. Their creations formed the heart of ClassiCon’s current production, in a constant dialogue between classical and contemporary design. Over time, leading contemporary designers such as Sebastian Herkner, Neri & Hu, Konstantin Grcic (who later became a star of contemporary design), and Jader Almeida have joined the roster.
A key figure in shaping ClassiCon has been its owner, Oliver Holy, who provided the brand with a clear, stable, and lasting direction that seamlessly blends a passion for art, architecture, and design, under family management for nearly two decades. Since mid-2020, ClassiCon has been jointly managed by Oliver Holy and CEO Larissa Sarjeant.
ClassiCon Furniture and Objects
The result is a collection of furniture and objects that evoke a poetic sense of timelessness, yet one that resonates with the modern individual—like a river that reflects a perfect image. These are pieces that transcend time, fitting effortlessly into any environment, whether rustic, minimalist, or even industrial. They are suitable for homes, offices, and corporate spaces, always adding a distinctive and unique touch. The brand’s vision is entrepreneurial and managerial yet far removed from cold, impersonal design. Instead, it’s a style that always evokes a reaction.
ClassiCon’s pieces result from careful studies of ergonomics and contemporary lifestyle, offering original and ever-innovative reinterpretations of design masters’ works. One such example is the collaboration between Eileen Gray and producer Zeev Aram in the 1970s, which led to furniture and lighting designs. Today, ClassiCon remains the exclusive licensee of Eileen Gray’s Aram collection.
Quality is central to every ClassiCon piece, along with exemplary practicality. ClassiCon’s design items can be found in numerous international and European design museums.
