Alivar: The Story of a Truly Italian Brand

Among the Italian brands born at the end of the last century, it is impossible not to mention Alivar. Founded in 1984, this Italian company pursues a clear goal: to give a second life to magnificent pieces that have made the history of design and furniture.

This mission blends with a strong focus on the most contemporary values characterizing today’s top brands: sustainability, technological evolution, and constant innovation.

The Alivar catalog mainly focuses on the home interior, in every room, offering functional and iconic furnishings with a story to tell: sofas and armchairs, coat racks and bookcases, shelves and chairs. The collection also includes products for the bedroom area, with a more sophisticated touch.

Beyond its clear production philosophy, the company’s greatest feature is its 100% Made in Italy certification — an important recognition that certifies the methodical and professional work of a completely Italian brand, conceived and developed right here in Italy. The raw materials used are of the highest quality, as are the production techniques — all traditionally Italian.

Alivar Design Products: Reinventing the Classics

The classic has one defining trait: it never goes out of style. This is exactly what Alivar seeks to convey through its products — pieces with a clean, functional, and practical design, yet never ordinary, where the details make all the difference.

Modernity also lies in simplicity: over time, we have learned to economize everything — including space — making what once required great effort now easier and more accessible. The concept of less is more is more relevant than ever.

Based in the heart of Italy, near Florence, this brand has reinterpreted some great examples of modern design for the living space, such as the Haus Koller Hoffmann sofa and armchairs, the Marshmallow sofa, and the Mackintosh coat rack.

Alivar at Casarredo Showroom

The Haus Koller Hoffmann is an upholstered sofa paired with an armchair, designed by Hoffmann for the Koller house. A variable-sized sofa — 2 or 3-seater with matching armchair — available with velvet or leather upholstery, in either black or white, featuring an elegant and very clean design.

The Marshmallow sofa is a unique piece of design history, created by designer George Nelson in the late 1950s. Its frame is made of steel, the upholstery is eco-leather, and it is available in white, black, or a multicolored version.

As for the Mackintosh coat rack, it is a beautiful accessory made of painted ash wood, with steel hooks and brass trays. It was designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, a Scottish architect and designer who worked at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Timeless design is that which treasures its past while reaching toward innovation with open eyes, ears, and hands.

This is how Alivar products achieve their goal: bringing new life to modern design objects from the past that remain highly contemporary and functional today.
