After experimenting with the solidity of the steel tube, used for the construction of the <i>Adler<\/i> bicycle, Breuer thought of using the steel tubes to build furniture<sup id=\"cite_ref-2\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>. For the realization of the Breuer chair he had turned to <a title=\"Adler (trade)\" href=\"https:\/\/it.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Adler_(azienda)\">Adler<\/a>, but the company did not accept, so he turned to the <a title=\"Mannesmann\" href=\"https:\/\/it.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mannesmann\">Mannesmann<\/a> company which, as early as <a title=\"1885\" href=\"https:\/\/it.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1885\">1885<\/a>&#8211;<a title=\"1886\" href=\"https:\/\/it.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1886\">86<\/a>, had been working steel tubes with innovative techniques.
